Q&A's:
TELL US WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO SERVE IN A LEADERSHIP POSITION AT THE LEAGUE. IN PARTICULAR, SPECIFY GOALS YOU WOULD LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH AS AN OFFICER OR BOARD MEMBER AND INDICATE HOW, IF ATTAINED, THEY WILL HELP TO ACHIEVE VISION 2030 – THE LEAGUE’S FUTURE VISION OF HOW CITIES AND TOWNS WILL OPERATE IN 2030?
Serving on the North Carolina League of Municipalities Board has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my public service journey, and I am honored to seek the role of First Vice President. I am guided by a simple belief: strong municipalities build strong communities, and, through collaboration, we can solve even the most complex challenges facing North Carolina.
Since 2020, I have had the privilege of serving on the NCLM Board of Directors—first as a President’s appointee followed by as the district 6 representative and currently second vice president. I have served on the Finance Committee, chaired the Legislative Committee, and contributed to the Governance Committee. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of municipal governance and deepened my commitment to advancing the League’s long-term vision.
My leadership approach is rooted in collaboration and community. Through partnerships with elected officials across the state and organizations such as the Central Pines Council of Governments, I have worked to bridge urban and rural perspectives and ensure that municipalities of all sizes have a voice.
As we advance Vision 2030, local governments must become more resilient, technologically advanced, and community-focused. Drawing from my experience in Morrisville—a town experienced rapid growth, economic development, and increasing diversity—I am prepared to help municipalities navigate this transformation.
If elected, I will focus on four key priorities:
1. Cybersecurity & Digital Resilience
Advocate for a coordinated statewide framework to provide municipalities—especially smaller and rural communities—with shared cybersecurity resources, funding, and training.
2. Healthcare Access & Funding Coordination
With approximately $231 million in federal funding expected every year over the next five years for Rural Health, I want to work with NC DHHS to align municipal, county, and state efforts to expand access through telehealth, community clinics, and technology-enabled care.
3. Broadband Expansion & Rural Vitality
Promote policies and investments that expand broadband access, enabling residents to live, work, and thrive in their hometowns while strengthening local economies.
4. Economic Recovery & Regional Resilience
Support efforts to strengthen regions facing economic challenges, including Western North Carolina, by ensuring access to resources, partnerships, and sustainable growth opportunities.
At its core, Vision 2030 is about creating communities where people can live with dignity, opportunity, and connection. Everyone values their hometown, and our responsibility is to ensure that people can continue to thrive where they live.
I am committed to working collaboratively with the Board, League staff, and municipal partners to ensure every city and town has support and a voice.

It is both a privilege and an honor to serve the residents of Morrisville as a member of the Town Council. First elected in 2015 as an At-Large Member and reelected in 2023 for a third term, I also served 2 years as Mayor Pro Tem. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by the community and my colleagues. This confidence reinforces my commitment to fostering strong, respectful relationships within the council and with our exceptional town staff, ensuring collaborative and effective governance.
Beyond my service in Morrisville, I am actively engaged at the local, state, and national levels to advocate for policies that strengthen communities. I have built strong partnerships with the Wake County Board of Commissioners and the Wake County Public School System, ensuring that Morrisville’s voice is represented in key decisions affecting our residents.
At the state level, I was honored to serve on Governor-Elect Josh Stein’s Transition Team, contributing to recommendations for leadership roles, including the Secretary of the Department of Information Technology. I currently serve on the North Carolina Information Technology Strategy Board, helping guide the state’s long-term technology roadmap. I have also been nominated to chair the statewide IT consolidation initiative, focused on improving efficiencies and achieving cost savings across municipalities, counties, universities, community colleges, and state agencies. This work reflects my commitment to leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, transparency, and cybersecurity in government.
I am also deeply committed to bipartisan collaboration and regularly engage with leaders across all levels of government. My key areas of focus include:
Rural Broadband & Economic Vitality – Expanding broadband access to bridge the digital divide, strengthen local economies, and reduce rural-to-urban migration.
Youth Development & Education – Supporting mentorship, workforce readiness, and educational opportunities for the next generation.
Public Safety & Intergovernmental Collaboration – Strengthening partnerships among municipalities, law enforcement, and regional agencies.
Economic Development & Smart Growth – Advancing infrastructure, small business support, and sustainable development strategies.
Community Wellness & Resilience – Addressing housing, mental health, and access to nonprofit and community resources.
Technology & Innovation in Government – Leveraging AI, data, and modern platforms to improve service delivery and transparency.
Throughout my tenure, I have been privileged to serve in a variety of leadership roles, including:
North Carolina Information Technology Strategy Board
NCLM Board of Directors and Legislative Committee Chair
WakeMed Health System Board of Directors
North Carolina Education and Workforce Innovation Commission
Wake County Fire Commission
My service is guided by a strong sense of responsibility, a commitment to innovation, and a passion for building inclusive, thriving communities. I look forward to continuing to serve and advocate for the people of Morrisville and communities across North Carolina.
