Working As One. Advancing All.

League publications, regardless of format, keep members informed about best practices around the state and country, emerging trends and technologies, policy proposals that affect municipalities, programs and services offered by the League, and key events taking place across the state. Southern City magazine is received by every elected municipal official and every key appointed official, and Southern City also serves as a great source of information for the public about all that is going in North Carolina cities and towns.

Introducing the First 2026 Issue of Southern City Magazine!

The first 2026 issue of Southern City, published by the North Carolina League of Municipalities, explores the leadership, partnerships and ideas shaping communities across North Carolina.

This edition highlights the League’s Advancing Municipal Leaders program, which equips officials with training and resources to lead effectively, and outlines five key legal topics every municipal leader should understand.

Readers will also hear insights from NCLM board member and council member Robert Clark of Winston-Salem on navigating economic change and community growth. Additional stories cover the return of Town & State Regional Dinners and a League program helping towns strengthen financial management and long-term stability.
